Hello, little friends! Here is a new story in English. The words are easy. Say them softly with me.
The fast hare
A hare can run very fast. He runs like the wind. He is happy, but he likes to show off.
"Look at me!" says the hare. "I am fast. I am the fastest of all!"
A tortoise walks by. The tortoise is slow. Step, step, step. Very slow.
The hare laughs. "Ha, ha! You are so slow, tortoise. You walk like this all day?"
Let us race
The tortoise is not angry. The tortoise smiles.
"I am slow," says the tortoise. "But let us race. You and me. To the big tree."
The hare laughs again. "A race? You and me? Yes! This is fun. I win, of course."
All the animals come to watch. "Ready," says the fox. "Set. Go!"
The hare takes a nap
The hare runs fast. Very fast! Soon he is far, far away. The tortoise is a small dot behind him.
"I am so fast," says the hare. "The tortoise is slow. I have time. I can rest."
So the hare sits under a tree. The sun is warm. His eyes close. He falls asleep. Zzz, zzz.
The tortoise walks. Step, step, step. He does not stop. He is slow, but he does not stop. Step, step, step.
Slow and steady
The tortoise walks past the sleeping hare. Step, step, step. He is near the big tree now.
The hare wakes up. He looks. The tortoise is at the tree!
"Oh no!" says the hare. He runs and runs. But he is too late.
The tortoise touches the tree. The tortoise wins! All the animals cheer.
"I am slow," says the tortoise. "But I never stop. And so I win."
The hare is sad. Now he knows: fast is good, but do not show off. Do not give up.
Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
Good night, little friends. Sleep well, and dream big.
