Hello, little friends! Time for one more story in English. The words are small and easy. Listen with me.
A thirsty crow
It is a hot, hot day. The sun is big. The sky is blue. No rain. No water.
A crow flies over the fields. He is thirsty. Very thirsty. He wants water. He looks and looks.
"Water, water," says the crow. "I need water."
He flies here. He flies there. He sees no water. He is so tired.
The pitcher
Then the crow sees a pitcher. A tall pitcher on the ground.
He flies down. He looks inside. There is water! A little water, deep down at the bottom.
The crow is happy. "Water! At last!"
He puts his beak in. But the pitcher is tall. The water is low. He can not reach it. He tries and tries. No, no. He can not reach the water.
The crow thinks
The crow is sad. But he does not fly away. The crow stops. The crow thinks.
He looks around. He sees small stones on the ground. Little stones, one, two, three, many stones.
"I have an idea," says the crow.
He picks up one stone. He drops it in the pitcher. Plop! He picks up another stone. Plop! Another. Plop, plop, plop.
The water goes up
Something happens. Each stone goes down. And the water — the water goes up! Up, up, a little more each time.
The crow drops more stones. Plop, plop, plop. The water goes up and up.
Now the water is at the top! The crow puts his beak in. He drinks. He drinks and drinks. Cool, sweet water.
"Ah," says the crow. "That is good. I am not thirsty now."
The crow is happy. He is not the biggest bird. He is not the strongest bird. But he thinks, and he finds a way.
You see, little friends? When a thing is hard, do not give up. Stop, and think. A good idea can help you.
Moral: Little by little, clever thinking gets the job done.
Good night, little friends. Sleep well, and dream big.
