Hello, little friends! Come and sit close. Tonight we have a story in English. The words are small and easy. Listen, and say them with me.
The little red hen finds seeds
A little red hen lives on a farm. She has three friends. A cat, a dog, and a pig live with her.
One day, the hen finds some seeds. They are wheat seeds.
"I can plant these seeds," says the hen. "Who will help me plant the seeds?"
"Not I," says the cat. "Not I," says the dog. "Not I," says the pig.
"Then I will do it," says the little red hen. And she plants the seeds all by herself.
The wheat grows tall
The sun shines. The rain falls. The wheat grows tall and gold.
"The wheat is ready," says the hen. "Who will help me cut the wheat?"
"Not I," says the cat. "Not I," says the dog. "Not I," says the pig.
"Then I will do it," says the little red hen. And she cuts the wheat all by herself.
Time to make the bread
The hen takes the wheat to make flour. Then she wants to make bread.
"Who will help me make the bread?" she asks.
"Not I," says the cat. "Not I," says the dog. "Not I," says the pig.
"Then I will do it," says the little red hen. And she makes the bread all by herself.
The bread smells so good! It is warm. It is fresh.
Who will eat the bread?
"Now," says the hen. "Who will help me eat the bread?"
"I will!" says the cat. "I will!" says the dog. "I will!" says the pig.
"No, no," says the little red hen. "I planted the wheat. I cut the wheat. I made the bread. You did not help me. So I will eat the bread all by myself."
And she does. Yum, yum, yum!
You see, little friends? We must all help with the work. Then we can all share the good things.
Moral: If you want to share the bread, help to make the bread.
Good night, little friends. Sleep well, and dream happy dreams.
